Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

This Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs is a comforting one-pan meal that combines tender spaghetti, juicy homemade meatballs, and a rich tomato sauce baked together until perfectly cooked. Fresh basil, sweet cherry tomatoes, onion, olive oil, and tomato sauce create a flavorful base that slowly cooks in the oven, allowing the pasta to absorb all the delicious flavors while remaining perfectly tender.

Ingredients

  • 250 g spaghetti
  • 1 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • fresh basil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 cups water
  • 500 g seasoned meatballs
  • shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Place the uncooked spaghetti in a large baking dish. Add the chopped basil, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped onion, tomato sauce, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the hot water and gently stir to distribute the ingredients evenly.
    Step 2: Add the Meatballs
Arrange the prepared meatballs evenly over the spaghetti mixture, making sure they are spread across the dish for even cooking.
    Step 3: Add the Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and pasta.
    Step 4: Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 35–40 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for 10–15 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked, the spaghetti is tender, and the mozzarella is melted and lightly golden.
    Step 5: Serve
Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot with garlic bread, Parmesan cheese, or a crisp green salad.
